[Description] Our Guest- Janet DeNeefe on A Decade of UWRF- Behind the scenes of Ubud's own Cultural event The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will mark its 10th anniversary with this year's festival 11–15 October. UWRF is still young, but it has been successful from the very beginning. Janet DeNeefe conceived of the festival as a healing project after the Bali bombings. In its third year it was dubbed "one of the world's six best literary festivals" with top writers and thinkers from all over the world. Janet will tell her story of the festival -- something not to be missed. Janet DeNeefe, the Founder & Director of the annual Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, is a Melbourne-born artist, author and restaurateur who has lived in Bali for nearly three decades.
Her memoir Fragrant Rice charts her love affair with Balinese food, culture and traditions. Her latest book is Bali: Food of My Island Home. Janet began the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival as a healing project in response to the first Bali bombing, with the aim of bringing Indonesian and international writers together on a world stage. She is also the owner of Casa Luna, Indus and Bar Luna restaurants in Ubud.
