[Description] THE BOOK OF SHADOWS @ BETELNUT UBUD Contemporary shadow puppet performance and short film night presented by BETELNUT in association with UNDERGROWTH (Australia). 7pm THURSDAY 30th JANUARY 2014 This unique event will showcase a sneak preview of a new shadow puppetry performance being developed in Ubud by Australian theatre group CICADA COLLECTIVE with a Q&A about shadow puppetry with Writer/Director TIMOTHY PARISH, puppeteer CONOR FOX and and Writer LEVIN DIATSCHENKO. SPECIAL GUEST: Balinese master puppeteer MADE SIDIA will also present work from his career, and speak about the evolution of the art form which he has pioneered through such works as The Theft of Sita and the contemporary Balinese theatre extravaganza Bali Agung. The event will also feature a selection of short films about WAYANG KULIT in Bali and selections from shadow puppetry art form from around the world. Come and learn about the traditional art of shadow puppetry and the contemporary innovations in this art form.
